“Target” Yoga Classes in August
All Levels Welcome.
*Developing a Home Practice Mini-Workshop (Two Classes).
August 9th and 23rd, 3:00 – 5:30 p.m.
More than a class, this is a two-week process that blends practice and theory
to empower both beginning and experienced students to develop or deepen their
personal (or “home”) practice. (Bring your notebook!)
Healthy Neck, Shoulders and Upper Back.
August 12th and 20th, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Get your head on straight with this sequence targeting the upper spine. The focus
will be on penetrating and releasing commonly held patterns of tension and finding stability through a variety of postures involving this area of the body.
Hips, Hamstrings and the Low Back.
August 13th and 26th, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
A Sequence designed to open and align the legs, pelvis and low back to help
prevent injuryand nurture the health of the lower spine.
Postures and Pranayama.
August 19th, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. and August 30th 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.
The fourth “limb” of Ashtanga Yoga, Pranayama means extension or expansion
of the life force and involves careful regulation of the breathing process. This class
will focus on a sequence of postures designed to prepare the body and mind and lead
into this powerful and refined practice.
Deepening Backbends.
August 23rd, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
This class is designed to clarify some central concepts of this important and exhilarating category of postures. It will address common challenges, clarify basic safety points,
and introduce sequencing concepts for optimal results.
(No students with major limitations please.)
A Fresh Approach to Vinyasa Yoga.
August 30rd, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
According to B.K.S Iyengar, “Vinyasa means separating and putting down or placing
in a sequential order. It is a way of arrangement . . .” In this target class, we will explore the concept of “arrangement” in a variety of unique (and perhaps unconven-tional)
ways to access a deeper experience of the yogic process.
(No students with major limitations please.)

12-Week Yoga Intensive
September 20 to December 13
2 weekly classes
plus Saturday Sessions
from 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
With only the profound transformation that the consistent, long-term practice of yoga can foster in mind, we have created this intensive course. It will include three in-depth asana and pranayama classes per week, a weekend yoga retreat on Lake Charlevoix, and guided study in yoga philosophy. The intensive will also include a yoga workshop with Laurie Blakeney, one of the top Iyengar teachers in the United States. Most importantly, it will kindle a profound appreciation for the ingenious and refined art and science that yoga is. Students must have a minimum of one year of yoga experience to participate in this intensive.
