Two (Happy-)Hour Tuesdays: 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

10 October, 14 November, 12 December

Becoming profound in practice takes time. These classes are designed to ignite that process. Students must be seekers, “hungry to know,” adventurous, and willing to practice inversions and backbends (though in some classes other postural categories will be featured).

Thursday 16 November, 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.: Pratyaharic Practices

Pratyahara is the fifth limb of the eight-limbed practice of yoga (also known as Astanga Yoga). Pratyahara involves training the mind to break free from the constant pull of the senses and the mental restlessness this pull creates, and withdrawing them inward toward the true self and its inherently fulfilling nature. This class will focus on processes and techniques taught in Iyengar Yoga to facilitate this inward movement, thus laying the groundwork for the meditative state to arise.

Saturday 2 December, 3:30 – 6:00 p.m.: Developing Your Own Practice

B.K.S. Iyengar deems sadhana (steadfast practice) “A key to freedom.” The Hatha Yoga Pradipika states, “The young, the old, the extremely aged, even the sick and the infirm obtain perfection in yoga by constant practice . . . Constant practice alone is the secret of success. Verily, there is no doubt of this.” We look forward to helping you onto, or along, the road to success.
